We were served rapidly and sat outside.

We ordered the margarita pizza and a Caprese salad and pasta with vegetables.

The pasta needed a little salt but was cooked perfectly.  The vegetables were fresh and crisp.

The sauce on the pasta was great.

The Caprese salad had decent tomatoes and fresh mozzarella.

The star of the show was the pizza. Possibly one of the best we have had.

    Recommended.

Unfortunately we read the other reviews too late. This place is as bad as the other reviews say. We had to run to get some gelato and waffles afterwards just to get the bad taste out of our mouths.

If you are looking for good food take the taxi to Venice and get to some highly rated restaurants. It was criminal to charge for food this bad. There was a time after the first bite we thought about leaving, and we would have been morally justified.

The gnocchi was definitely frozen and covered with pre-made sauce. The chicken was the size of large rat and tasted as I imagine one would . The bread was hard and tasteless.

    Avoid it at all costs!

A friend and I came to stay at a hotel right next door. They had good atmosphere and we wanted to give them a chance. We did our research before coming to Lido and we were aware of tourist trap restaurants. However,  my friend and I did not want to not try a restaurant just because someone said it MAY be a tourist trap.

It was a tourist trap. Biggest worst tourist trap.

My friend had pasta with shrimp and zucchini and I had the penne "nostromo." With mixed salad and green salad. It costed roughly 24 euros.

It was unfortunate the penne tasted like canned cat food I tried out of curiosity when I was in college. Just some tomatoes, canned tuna, and over cooked penne thrown together and squished. In fairness, I cannot comment on my friend's dish as I did not try it. I also had the green salad. Boy, was it green. Just a container of cut lettuce that you buy from Costco. But, this time it costs 4 euros for a handful whereas you can buy a very large bag for 4 dollars at Costco. One would think maybe there's dressing, some carrots, or, if lucky, tomatoes. That was not the case. Just nice and green rabbit food. However, you can pay 90 cents extra for a MIXED salad which is the lettuce carrot and a quarter tomato.

I love people and therefore I wish to say to everyone, avoid at all cost. It's right next to hotel Reiter and looks very welcoming and nicely staffed. Just don't go. Pass by the beautiful restaurant and let it just be a sightseeing experience. No need to pay to see the dirty inside.

Not that bad, just an average restaurant. The pizza is not that good, and for the person next to me, it was burnt. Pasta is decent. There are definitely better places nearby.

I have used Yelp for two reasons: finding new places to eat and unlocking deals at restaurants by checking-in with Yelp. However, I have recently been compelled to write a review due to the poor quality of the food at pizzeria alle botte (I knowingly and willingly refuse to properly capitalize this restaurant's name because its food has offended me to the point that I cannot and will not respect this establishment. Think about how bad the food has to be in order to be offensive).

Let me preface this review by stating that this cautionary tale is intended for tourists because it seems as though that a great deal of people on the streets of Lido are visiting Venice on vacation. There is this notion that eating the food in Venice is an underwhelming experience. For those of you who have dined in Venice, you know this to be true. Nevertheless, the restaurants in Lido are unequivocally worse eateries than Venice, and these Lido establishments continue to stay in business due to the mere fact that tourists are essentially forced to eat because of the island's location.

Now, I shamefully acknowledge that I am victim of eating in Lido out of necessity and convenience (I was staying in a room on San Maria Elisabetta.) I wanted to get away from the wallet-gouging and unpalatable pizzas that are littered all over the streets of Lido, so I figured I would try pizzeria alle botte. On the outside, the restaurant appears to be a small hole in the wall restaurant. There is a little bar inside with a few tables, while the majority of the patrons are able to dine outside where there is an abundance of seating. pizzeria alle botte seems like a quaint diner, and with the amazing sunny and warm weather of Lido, one can easily mistake this place for something that is it not--a restaurant.

I placed an order of pasta with seafood and a mixed salad for take-away (many places in Italy charge customers extra to dine-in). The gentleman taking my order was charming Italian with a heavy accent. He told me that my food would be out in about "five to seven minutes." This was a serious red flag and should have been the point at which I left the restaurant. The only situation it is acceptable for an eatery to make food in that short amount of time is fast food. But, I chose to ignore my gut and happily paid (approximately 12 Euros).

The food came out in time as promised. I brought the food back up to my room, excited to dig in to my pasta and salad. As soon as I unwrapped the food from the small tin foil trays it came in, I immediately knew that I made a grave mistake. The mixed green salad was three small slices of tomatoes with shredded baby carrots tossed over a fistful of iceberg lettuce. To add insult to injury, there was no dressing. This absolute excuse of a salad would not even find its way in an American public school. And if you were to offer this casual arrangement of vegetables (conveniently called a salad) to a vegan, she would turn it down out of disgust in favor of meat. Unbelievably, the pasta was worse than the "salad." The pasta consisted of cheaply made noodles, and the shrimp that came with the pasta were smaller than .01 Euro/a penny. It would have been an upgrade if the pasta came with the miniature dried shrimp you can find in a cup of instant ramen noodles.

Only because I was absolutely famished was I able to finish the food. And in the loosest sense, it was edible food. As I am currently digesting this meal, I am convinced that the chefs simply nuke frozen dinners in a microwave and serve it to customers--the quality of the food here and microwavable television dinners are uncannily similar. Do yourself and every other tourist a favor and let this establishment go out of business by not eating here. I am angry and ashamed at myself for spending money let alone eating at pizzeria alle botte.

Summary: The true reason for the decline of Venice was not because the city lost its strangehold on trade or the Black Plague but most certainly due to the ancestors of those that operated this awful restaurant. The food is downright terrible (understatement of the century). Let this establishment go out of business for the sake of mankind.
